Ocular Robotics, a robotics technology company based in Hurstville in Sydney, has won the NSW Business Chamber’s Business of the Year Award. The Award was presented at a black-tie function attended by more than 800 guests this evening in Sydney.
“It is great to see an Australian hi-tech manufacturing business at the cutting edge of the industry, and thriving through innovation, employing highly skilled workers and forging a strong reputation for Australian businesses in the international marketplace,” said Stephen Cartwright, CEO of the NSW Business Chamber.
Ocular Robotics was also named the winner of the Excellence in Innovation category, presented by QANTAS.
Ocular Robotic’s “ RobotEye” technology has solved significant performance limitations for many systems that rely on information from sensors such as cameras, laser range scanners, and any sensor operating from the ultraviolet through to millimetre wave radar.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to win this Award, it’s a wonderful surprise and a great reward for the entire team at Ocular Robotics,” said Mark Bishop, CEO of Ocular Robotics.
“Australia has not traditionally been successful in commercialising local technology. This Award demonstrates that success against the odds is attainable, and we are proud to be an example to other companies and entrepreneurs,” Mr Bishop said.
