"Cut Through Venture and Folklore Ventures have recently published the State of Australian Startup Funding 2024 | Insights. They have examined the funding trends that shaped 2024 and highlighted the bright spots and opportunities for the Australian startup ecosystem in 2025.
From our viewpoint we saw a decrease in funds raised in 2024 compared with 2023 and the majority of that was debt funding compared with equity. We generally believe things are improving with increases in the stock market and expected a rate cut albeit the weaker Australian dollar, possible trade issues, and an upcoming election are all things on the horizon to keep an eye on.

We also expect M&A activity to increase with the weaker dollar and we are seeing “inbound” activity from potential acquirers and investors including corporates and funds.
